Petit Bateau invests in upgrading its Troyes plant : Towards ever more responsible and sustainable production
The 12 December 2024
Petit Bateau today reveals the upgrades made to the dyeing workshops at its historic Saint Joseph site in Troyes. This important investment is part of a larger project to improve its production model.
The brand plans to turn its Troyes factory into a model for responsible production, with big goals: reducing water use and carbon emissions by 95% by 2030, compared to 2019.
The upgrade of the dyeing workshop, officially opened on Thursday, October 26, is part of this plan.
A massive investment in favor of ecological and energy transition
This year, the factory’s dyeing workshop is being modernized with the acquisition of four new, more energy-efficient machines:
- Compared to traditional machines, these use 30% less water per kilogram of knit fabric.
- They are equipped with water recovery tanks.
- They also help reduce energy consumption and the amount of dye used during production.
This step is part of a broader modernization effort at Petit Bateau’s historic production site, which began in 2020.
Other planned projects until 2030 will help the company reach its objectives: heat recovery during production for building and production heating, installation of a new boiler, as well as the collection of rainwater and the recycling of wastewater to supply the dyeing machines.
A tool to preserve know-how in France
With these new investments, supported by ADEME (the French Agency for Ecological Transition) and AESN (the Seine Normandy Water Agency), Petit Bateau strengthens its Troyes production facility, which is key to preserving historical know-how and local jobs.
This initiative is also part of the France Relance Plan implemented by the French government, of which the company is a beneficiary.
Alexandre RUBIN, CEO of Petit Bateau, commented:
« These new dyeing machines are the perfect illustration of Petit Bateau’s ability to reinvent and innovate to adapt its industrial model to the challenges of responsible production. We are proud for Petit Bateau to be a pioneer in France on issues related to reducing water and energy resource consumption. I would like to congratulate all the teams involved in this project. »
